Usuki Farmers’ Market “Hyakusta” began in 2017 with a simple mission: to connect farmers directly with people through safe, organic, and truly local produce. The name “Hyakusta” comes from “Hyakushō New Standard.” Hyakushō means “farmers,” and the concept reflects a new way of creating value—together with the visitors who support and connect with them.

What makes Hyakusta unique is the direct connection between farmers and visitors. Producers hand you their produces personally, sharing not only the harvest but also their stories, cooking tips, and the joy behind their work. You may even discover rare vegetables, fishes and products that never make it to supermarkets.

Many younger farmers have relocated to Usuki after being inspired by its commitment to sustainable agriculture. Together with veteran farmers, they work hand in hand to protect the land, preserve organic practices, and support one another as a community.

The market takes place on the first Sunday of every month from 7:00–10:00 (October–April: 8:00–11:00), in the scenic garden at the foot of the National Treasure Usuki Stone Buddhas. Since many popular items sell out early, it’s best to arrive right when the market opens!

Visitors can also enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast made with local ingredients right at the venue. Simple tables and even stone benches are set up so you can relax and enjoy your meal. Each season brings its own charm—cherry blossoms in spring, cool shaded stalls in summer, crisp breezes in autumn, and warm stoves in winter.

Come and experience Hyakusta—a farmers’ market where community, tradition, and flavor come together in the heart of Usuki.
